Earnings Highlights: Office Depot said same-store sales fell 6% in its fiscal second quarter. The office supplies retailer said it closed 31 stores in the quarter, bringing the total to 1,408.... The Children's Place reported same-store sales rose 3.1% in its fiscal second quarter, accelerating from the 2.4% it reported for Q1. The kids apparel retailer said Gymboree's bankruptcy, which led to the closure of more than 300 Gymboree outlets, has sparked sales and traffic gains. 

Penny Pinch: Nearly three-quarters of millennials say they generally buy the lowest-price item when grocery shopping, according to a new survey from IRI. The average for the total population was 59%.

Talking Turkey: Only one-quarter of marketers sent emails on Thanksgiving in 2016, and those messages generated below-average engagement and conversion rates, according to a Yes Lifecycle Marketing report.  Black Friday emails generated the highest open rates of all holiday mailings, it said.

Deal Watch: Subscription service Birchbox has been in talks about being acquired, Re/code reports. Among the possible suitors: Walmart. Birchbox says it has 1 million subscribers and operations in six countries.
