Earnings: TJX reported second quarter revenue rose 6%, while comparable store sales were up 3%. Comparables were particularly strong at the company's HomeGoods chain, notching an increase of 7%, compared with a 2% at the combined TJ Maxx/Marshalls stores.

Natural Taste: NPD Group said its ongoing food and beverage research forecasts that Millennials and Gen Zs, even as they age into becoming parents, will maintain their attitudes regarding fresh and organic food consumption throughout their life stages, and as a result, consumption of fresh food will increase by 9% and of organic food by 16% over the next several years.

Quick Pick: Amazon launched so-called instant pickup sites in five cities, with another 17 planned. The service currently features snacks, drinks and electronics, as well as some of Amazon’s most popular devices.
