Flash Delivery: Target and Shipt, which the retailer acquired in December, are launching same-day delivery in Florida next week. "Florida’s growing community of Shipt members continues to be loyal and enthusiastic about the service, and we look forward to expanding throughout the state with our newest retail partner, Target," said Shipt founder and CEO Bill Smith in a statement. Per eMarketer Retail's companies database, Target's comparables grew 0.9% in Q3 2017.

A New Pair? The Kroger Co. is reportedly in talks to partner with Alibaba in a move to take on Amazon, which acquired Whole Foods Market last year. While conversations are still in the initial stage, a source familiar with the rumored alliance said several Kroger executives met senior Alibaba execs in China last month, Reuters reports. According to our companies database, Kroger's comparables rose 2.4% in Q3 2017. 

Effective Ads: Supermarket chain Albertsons, which owns Safeway and Shaw's, is teaming up with Quotient Technology to better understand how brands' digital ads affect sales. According to CNBC, the company will be using shopping data to help "brands better target their advertising—and these promotions will be placed across all sites and apps where the ads currently run."
